Toothache relief, today.

A throbbing or sharp toothache usually means something needs attention soon. Call us and we’ll find the cause and get you comfortable, often the same day.

What to do right now

Ease the pain until you can see us

  • Rinse gently with warm salt water (½ teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water).
  • Floss gently around the tooth. Sometimes trapped food is the culprit.
  • Take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed on the label, if it’s safe for you.
  • Use a cold compress on your cheek for 15–20 minutes at a time.
  • Avoid very hot, cold or sugary foods and chew on the other side.
  • Never put aspirin directly on the gum. It can burn the tissue.

Go to the ER or call 911 if you have swelling that is spreading to your eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a high fever, bleeding that won’t stop with firm pressure, or a possible jaw fracture or head injury.

How we help

Finding the cause, then fixing it

A toothache can come from a cavity, a cracked tooth, an infected nerve, gum problems or even clenching and grinding. At your visit we’ll take a quick look, take x-rays if needed, and explain exactly what’s going on in plain language.

Many problems can be treated the same day, including fillings, same-day crowns made in our office, and root canals. If more than one visit is needed, our first goal is always getting you out of pain today.

Common questions

Questions we hear a lot

Should I wait to see if my toothache goes away?

Pain that comes and goes can still be a sign of a deeper problem. A toothache that lasts more than a day or two, wakes you up at night, or comes with swelling should be checked soon.

Does a toothache always mean I need a root canal?

No. Many toothaches are fixed with a simple filling or by treating the gums. We only recommend a root canal when the nerve is truly damaged or infected.

Can you see me if I’m not a patient yet?

Yes. Emergency visits are open to new patients, and it’s a great way to get to know our team.
