About Atlas Dental
Changing the way you think about the dentist.
We’re a neighborhood dental studio on Woodstock Blvd, built around one idea: put patients first, and make every visit something you don’t dread.
Our mission
Quality dentistry that’s accessible, honest and comfortable.
More often than not, going to the dentist is an anxiety-inducing experience. Old industry habits put everything but the patient first. We’re reimagining the dental visit, focusing on comfort, clear communication and care you can trust.
When you trust us to put your needs first, you get the care you need, and you might even look forward to it.
Be compassionate
It’s a privilege to be trusted with your smile. We care for you like family.
Never stop learning
We keep improving with modern tools like in-office 3D scanning and milling.
Have fun
Dentistry doesn’t have to be stiff. Be yourself here. We are.

Our story
Hi, I’m Dr. Hieu.
I’m a Portland native, a break dancer since I was 12, and a dad to Mila and Micah. They’re the reason we do what we do.
After years of working at other offices, my wife Sereyneth and I opened Atlas Dental in 2018 to create the kind of patient experience we’d always wanted to give. We named it Atlas because we wanted our care to reach beyond our four walls. Giving back is part of who we are, from our yearly free dental day to a recent trip to Costa Rica to provide care.
I treat every patient like family, and my favorite part of the job is giving people their confidence back. One patient had injured her front teeth as a child and never liked her smile. After we restored it, she sent us a thank-you note with a family photo, saying she hadn’t felt this confident in years.
I trained at OHSU and have advanced training in braces, implants, full-smile makeovers and IV sedation, so we can handle even complex care right here.
When I’m not at the office, I’m still competing in break dancing, and Sereyneth and I race HYROX a couple of times a year to show our kids we can do hard things.
I’m lucky to work alongside two dentists who care as much as I do. Meet Dr. Rachel and Dr. Wen.
Meet your dentists
The doctors behind the smiles.

Dr. Rachel Kim
Dentist
Dr. Rachel knows dental nerves firsthand. She used to be an anxious patient, and it’s a big reason she became a dentist. She’ll ask what bothers you, whether it’s the needle, the sounds or a strong gag reflex, and find what helps you feel comfortable, including sedation if you need it. There’s no judgment, no matter how long it’s been.
She trained at OHSU, has extra training in implants, and loves cosmetic work that looks natural. On a recent dental trip to Costa Rica, a three-year-old patient looked in the mirror after treatment and said, “I look beautiful!” It’s still one of her favorite moments.
Portland has been home since sixth grade. She and her husband, Thomas, love to travel and try new restaurants, so ask her for a recommendation.

Dr. Wen Wu
Dentist
Dr. Wen grew up in Southeast Portland and has called Oregon home ever since, from Oregon State to dental school at OHSU. He became a dentist after watching a mentor make every patient feel truly cared for.
If you’re nervous, he’ll explain each step in plain words and won’t start until you’re comfortable. He’ll also set up a signal so you can take a break anytime. He especially enjoys crowns and extractions and has extra training in implants. One of his proudest moments came after he made new dentures for a patient: her daughter told him it was the first time in years she’d seen her mom smile with confidence.
Outside the office, he’s a die-hard Blazers fan (his wife, Monica, jokes he loves them more than her). He also likes thrift-store treasure hunting and exploring Portland’s food scene with Monica.
