Broken or chipped tooth? We can help.
Whether it’s a small chip or a tooth that cracked in half, call us. The sooner we see it, the more of your natural tooth we can usually save.
What to do right now
What to do right after it happens
- Rinse your mouth gently with warm water.
- Save any pieces of tooth in a clean container and bring them with you.
- If there’s bleeding, press gently with clean gauze for about 10 minutes.
- Cover sharp edges with sugar-free gum or dental wax to protect your tongue and cheek.
- Use a cold compress on your face to reduce swelling.
- Avoid chewing on that side until we’ve seen it.
Go to the ER or call 911 if you have swelling that is spreading to your eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a high fever, bleeding that won’t stop with firm pressure, or a possible jaw fracture or head injury.
How we help
From small chips to big breaks
Small chips can often be smoothed or repaired with tooth-colored bonding in a single visit. Larger breaks may need a crown, and we design and mill crowns right here in our office, so many patients leave with a finished crown the same day.
If the break reaches the nerve, the tooth may need a root canal before it’s restored. We’ll walk you through every option, and the cost, before we start.

Common questions
Questions we hear a lot
My chipped tooth doesn’t hurt. Do I still need to come in?
Yes, ideally soon. A chip can leave the tooth weaker and more likely to break further, and sharp edges can cut your tongue or cheek.
Can a cracked tooth be saved?
Often, yes. It depends on where the crack is and how deep it goes. Seeing it early gives us the best chance of saving the tooth.
Will my repaired tooth look natural?
We match bonding and crowns to the color of your natural teeth so the repair blends right in.
